Journey of Self-Discovery Through Art

My art is best associated with the lyrical abstract movement, which is rather about a certain mindset, a desire to communicate concepts, thoughts, ideas and emotions abstractly. I like experimenting with the different levels of abstraction, playing with hiding and revealing. My paintings evoke associations of evolution and birth, whether it is the genesis of the universe, the origin of life or the evolvement of a human being. In recent years I have expanded my artistic practice of oil and acrylic painting to include 3D design and photo/video montage. My digital creations give a social dimension to my art.

Sometimes I find it challenging to reconcile my inner motivations and artistic vision with the prevailing trends without causing a rift. I am not of a young age and my tastes are often not able to absorb new trends. However, I am progressive in my thinking, and I try to resolve this tension by not making any major compromises in the content of my paintings (where I follow traditional techniques like oil painting), and by being able to express an alternative and contemporary approach in my digital works.

Edina Soós pursued graphic studies at the Graphic Arts Course in Pápa and at Huber István Dési Art School in Budapest, then she visited the Painting Department of Buda Art School for 3 years.

I have showcased my art at seven solo exhibitions in my home country, Hungary, since 2019, and has participated in more than 20 group exhibitions across major European cities, the USA and the UAE. I was awarded first prize in the Itsliquid International Contemporary Art Contest (13th Edition), was a finalist in the Yicca International Contest of Contemporary Art 22/23 and, among others, achieved third place at Hungary’s Talent Competition 2023 and 2025, in Painting Category.
